The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 player auction is set to take place in Chennai on Thursday. A total of 292 players will go under the hammer at the auction. All the eight franchises will look to strengthen their squad with big players like Steve Smith, Aaron Finch, Alex Hales are up for grabs. India’s veteran off-spinner Harbhajan Singh and Test specialist Cheteshwar Pujara have also registered themselves for the auction. Punjab Kings, who recently changed their name from Kings XI Punjab, will go in the auction with the biggest purse — 53.20 crore as they look to fill in nine spots including five overseas signing. SunRisers Hyderabad have three slots to fill — least of all the eight teams.
